A stylish yet timeless, compact kitchen design.

The Clemans kitchen is a contemporary design with a minimal aesthetic thanks to the compact cabinetry and the neutral colour palette. Renovating their character cottage home located in a Cambridgeshire village, the young couple wanted a modern kitchen that would also become the heart of their home. With plenty of windows to let the light in, and doors leading to other parts of the house, this kitchen doesn't possess much wall space to work with. This resulted in a compact kitchen and an impressive island, that provides plenty of work surface and storage, to became the hub of the space.

With an abundance of daylight, this bright sunny kitchen is lifted even more with the light toned off-white cabinetry painted in Slaked Lime. Contrasting strongly in Lamp Black, the island is highlighted as the hub of the space. The bold contrast with the Slaked Lime cabinetry and the clean white of the Carrara quartz worktops, creates a clean and minimal aesthetic that looks stylish and contemporary. The polished chrome knobs and cup handles give a clean finish that contributes to this look. Along with the Shaker cabinetry and groove panel details, this kitchen features traditional elements that make it timeless too. The wooden herringbone flooring not only looks incredibly beautiful, but it brings warmth and character, it is a real feature within the space.
The generously sized island is the main preparation area with the minimal induction hob on the end opposite the sink. Large pan drawers are conveniently situated below for storing all the essential pots, pans and cookware. The stool seating along one side looks out of the large windows onto the patio, not only making a great breakfast spot, but turning this kitchen into a social space too. Integrated sockets also make it the perfect place to sit up and plug in a laptop to work from home. Along the opposite side is more cupboard and drawer storage space that is vital for this kitchen. The open shelf cabinets on either side offer the chance to inject colour and character into the kitchen while keeping things handy.
Though the Clemans’ kitchen is compact, it remains highly functional with a combination of tall and low cabinets and all the essentials that are needed. The large double bowl butler’s sink has an integrated dishwasher to the right and a bin cabinet to the left. The tall units consist of an integrated fridge freezer, a double stack of ovens and a larder cupboard for additional storage. It is a tidy arrangement that offers an abundance of practicality while remaining beautiful, what more could you want?
